Gifts to the Future
Throttle back – sometimes the best thing you can do for the future is… less.
When you drive, chill
Go easier on BOTH pedals – smooth, gentle acceleration and as little braking as possible buys you more miles per gallon AND some zen in your day. You don’t need to rush right up to that red light ahead and then brake hard. Think of braking like pouring out gasoline for no reason. That’s basically what you’re doing each time you hit the pedal.
Cut back on flying
Self evident, but worth saying. Use remote collaboration tools to their full advantage so you can be as selective as possible. Opt for fewer, higher quality, more effective trips. While you’re there, connect with as many folks as you can
Run fewer errands
Driving around is a really inefficient way to get goods and services to your home – what could be delivery instead? Where can you shop that’s local or even accessible on foot, bike, or public transit?
Use less dryer heat
Your clothes will thank you. Throw in some wool dryer balls, lower the heat, and air dry as many of your clothes as possible. During dry winters, a rack full of clean clothes dries quickly and helps you breathe easier with gentle humidity.
